Real-Time Control of a Tokamak Plasma Using Neural Networks

چکیده

This paper presents results from the first use of neural networks for the real-time feedback control of high temperature plasmas in a tokamak fusion experiment. The tokamak is currently the principal experimental device for research into the magnetic confinement approach to controlled fusion. In the tokamak, hydrogen plasmas, at temperatures of up to 100 Million K, are confined by strong magnetic fields. Accurate control of the position and shape of the plasma boundary requires real-time feedback control of the magnetic field structure on a time-scale of a few tens of microseconds. Software simulations have demonstrated that a neural network approach can give significantly better performance than the linear technique currently used on most tokamak experiments. The practical application of the neural network approach requires high-speed hardware, for which a fully parallel implementation of the multilayer perceptron, using a hybrid of digital and analogue technology, has been developed. 1008 C. Multi-Step-Ahead Prediction of Stock Price Using a New Architecture of Neural Networks

Modelling and forecasting Stock market is a challenging task for economists and engineers since it has a dynamic structure and nonlinear characteristic. This nonlinearity affects the efficiency of the price characteristics. Using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is a proper way to model this nonlinearity and it has been used successfully in one-step-ahead and multi-step-ahead prediction of di...

Neural Network Prediction of Disruptions in a Tokamak Plasma

This report presents investigations made into how neural networks can be used for prediction of disruptions occurring in the high temperature plasma in a tokamak fusion experiment. Disruptions present a problem for the operation of tokamaks, imposing limits on operational parameters and the threat of causing severe damage to the tokamak. Networks are trained on synthetic data to implement a map...

Distribution Systems Reconfiguration Using Pattern Recognizer Neural Networks

A novel intelligent neural optimizer with two objective functions is designed for electrical distribution systems. The presented method is faster than alternative optimization methods and is comparable with the most powerful and precise ones. This optimizer is much smaller than similar neural systems. In this work, two intelligent estimators are designed, a load flow program is coded, and a spe...

Equilibrium Reconstruction on the START Spherical Tokamak Using a Neural Network

The neural network post-shot reconstruction analysis, as implemented on the START spherical tokamak at Culham, is described. This used a combination of magnetic and soft X-ray diagnostic inputs to evaluate selected plasma parameters as a function of time throughout the shot. An in-built “novelty detector “was used to detect inadequate database coverage associated with plasma configurations not ...

Nyquist Plots Prediction Using Neural Networks in Corrosion Inhibition of Steel by Schiff Base

The corrosion inhibition effect of N,N′-bis(n-Hydroxybenzaldehyde)-1,3-Propandiimine on mild steel has been investigated in 1 M HCl using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. A predictive model was presented for Nyquist plots using an artificial neural network. The proposed model predicted the imaginary impedance based on the real part of the impedance as a function of time. The model to...
